Hello Everyone

I decided to improve a few things in this fantastic project that are a constant problem for many people. I am sharing one of them here. Below are links to further improvements that I also recommend to get rid of all problems.

Update 26.05.2023 :

  • I decided to add Filament Guide Carriage to make the project complete and there was no need to download it from the original project. Apart from subtle changes in the appearance and enlargement of the hole from 8.4mm to 8.5mm for my axles from another project, its use does not change. I have also added a .3mf file containing all the design elements

  • This design is compatible with Winder Spool Frame 2 - Modular Design

  • I have added a new version of the Knob M3 which now uses a Heat Threaded Insert instead of a nut

UPDATE 10.05.2024 : 

  • I designed a completely new Filament Guide Sled.stl - The base has been strengthened and is now stiffer. I also rounded each outer corner. Incorrectly set printing parameters in the slicer resulted in the formation of a seam at the corners, which resulted in poor fit to the Filament Guide Carriage.stl. I also made cosmetic changes to the Filament Guide.stl file.


In short, what have I changed compared to the original design?

  1. I corrected the defect of the Filament Guide Sled consisting in reducing two teeth (First left upper and last right lower) which were too large and caused crackling and jumps on the linear gear of the filament carriage. Alone Miklos published a video with instructions on how to fix this defect. It consisted in grinding these teeth with a file. However, I decided to improve it so that grinding was not necessary.
     
  2. I modified the Filament Guide Sled by adding space for threaded heating inserts with a maximum height of 6mm.
     
  3. I designed the Filament Guide from scratch, adding as above space for threaded heating inserts with a maximum height of 4mm.
     
  4. In the Knurled M3-M8 Thumbscrews project, I changed the hole diameter and hole depth.

IMPORTANT - READ :
Note that each printer is calibrated differently, has individual user settings, and each uses different types and manufacturers of filaments. I conducted tests Filament Guide Sled on PLA, PLA Plus, ASA and ABS. In each case, the described defect did not occur to me. If, despite this, it still happens to you, file the two teeth gently. You can also write me a private message (Not in the comments section). I will make a fix especially for you.
 

How to print ? :

  • Material : Each Rigid Filament
  • Layer Height : 0.2mm
  • Speed : All Max 80mm/s - In this case, the precision of printing matters
  • Infill : 100%
  • Wall Loops : 4
