Back cover for Sony E-Mount Lenses.
Since my collection of vintage lenses, which I mount with adapters to my Sony alpha 7, grows rapidly, I needed a solution how to protect them from dust. Of course buying some would have been possible, but that's not the spirit of a printer.
So I took one original back cover, and made some measurements and designed an adequate substitute.
About fitting:
I designed this model according to the dimensions of the original back cover from SONY, and it fits to all my original SONY lenses perfectly.
Anyhow, on aftermarket lenses and especially on cheep adapters for other lens types the dimensions might slightly varying. So if your printed cap is too tight, or too wobbly, try to play a little bit with the scaling in the slicer.
Update 07. Jan. 2024:
additional version with SONY logo as 2 color print (see new cover picture).
Files for this version are: nex-rear-lenscap_SONY_v2.3mf
/ nex-rear-lenscap_SONY_v2.stl
For the plain version without SONY-logo, take nex-rear-lenscap_v2pp.3mf
/ nex-rear-lenscap_v2pp.stl
I made them with PLA, but other materials might work too.
15% infill is sufficient.
Even if it might be possible to go without support, I recommend it on the bayonet features (enforced supports are included in the pre-sliced 3mf files)
For version with SONY-logo:
The pre-sliced 3mf file nex-rear-lenscap_SONY_v2.3mf
is set up for a 1-extruder printer. It will ask for filament change at the right point.
Your printer will ask you for color change two times. First color with which you will start the print is the main color, second color (fist color change) is the color of the SONY-logo, third color (second color change) is the main color again.
I recommend textured PEI sheet.
