I'm not a huge fan of the looks of the original Ender 3 V3 KE's shroud, it's too bulky and the fact you need to remove it to access the extruder's spring tensioner or swap the nozzle really bothers me.

So I designed this one, inspired by hot rod cars.

  • It tilts the fans outward to provide more direct airflow for the part cooling.
  • Allows for the fans to be installed facing upwards or downwards, I believe using them upwards will facilitate hotend cooling and improve airflow overrall but I don't have the tools neither the patience to really put those claims to test.
  • The minimalistic brackets allow for adjusting the extruder's spring tension without removing the shroud;
  • The ducts provide 360 airflow and are removeable allowing for nozzle changes without removal of the fans shroud.
  • there's an integrated notch to facilitate operation of the extruder's lever.

I printed it out of PETG and the duct sits far enough from the hotend that I didn't see any deformation after many hours printing at 260c.

I used supports, 15% infill, 3 walls and 6 top/bot layers and it took me about 6 hours to print it and weighed about 50 grams that could be reduced to 40 grams by reducing walls to 2 and top/bot layers to 4.

The little clips are used to ensure proper alignment of the duct and I glued mine to the front part, but just pressure fitting is good enough too.
