HULA v1.0 Anti Vibration feet for Prusa Mk3/4, Core One (beta) & Prusa Bear

• Bearing washers should be installed with the smooth side facing the bearings. 

UPDATE: 04 Feb 2025

With the update of PrusaSlicer to version 2.9.0 which supports multi-build plates, I decided to update the 3mf files making the project easier to print. 

I have also added HULA for Core One (beta). At present, it is in beta stage as I need testers to try it out. You will require M3x8mm -12pcs (3 each) to secure the bracket to each corner of the Core One enclosure.

I have been gathering valuable feedback from users since the launch of HULA RC2. HULA v1.0 is the result of incorporating some of these suggestions to improve the design.  

1. HULA petg parts are now easier to print and assemble. 
2. The TPU dampener design is improved for more linear dampening and is easier to print with less stringing.
3. Cleaned up 3mf project files and updated the user guide.

I hope this will improve the user's experience of making HULA.

INTRODUCTION

Most 3D printers use rubber feet designed to absorb motors and engine vibrations. It does not do a good job of absorbing the force caused by the directional changes of the toolhead. I drew inspiration from seismic base isolators used to earthquake-proof building structures and designed HULA.

What is HULA?

HULA is an Omnidirectional Self-Aligning Anti-Vibration Foot specifically designed to dampen movement vibration generated by fast 3D printers. It decouples the printer from the table and dampens the horizontal XY forces of corexy & cartesian printers, preventing the printer from swaying/wobbling. This reduces the stress on the printer frame, improves print quality (dependent on setup) and reduces the shake translated to the table and other printers.

HULA for Prusa is designed with the same principles in mind.

Files for HULA for Prusa have been prepared on PrusaSlicer. If you want HULA for other 3D printers (eg Bambu Lab, Creality, Voron) or to use OrcaSlicer/BambuSlicer 3mf multi-plate project files, you may download them from my MakerWorld page.

• Please use 95A TPU filament (or close)
• This uses a 0.4mm nozzle but prints a line of 0.6mm for the dampeners. I have adjusted it in the slicer settings.

Comparison Test between Bambu Lab Anti-Vibration feet (left) vs HULA anti-Vibration feet (right) - In this video, you will see that Bambu Lab anti-v feet cause the printer to wobble/oscillate.  The HULA works to decouple the printer from the table and dampen the movement on the horizontal plane, thus greatly reducing the wobbling.

Hula is meant to be a fun and functional project for the community, and the way it moves reminded me of Crayon Shin Chan 蜡笔小新 (クレヨンしんちゃん), one of my favourite manga during my school days.

CONCLUSION
