This is a very simple model of the Russian cruiser "Moskva" with an artistic impression of the hull damage she sustained before her sinking on the 14th of April 2022.
Nothing special. Both models have slight overhangs but nothing a modern printer can't handle.
Most likely the print will float with all the hollow infill. Mine does. At least for a while. Because of this, I made a tilted version with a base to bury it in sand and rocks in order to keep it down.
The original model for the aquarium did float but it capsized immediately. Just too top heavy.
As the bathtub contest came along I gave it another try and drilled some holes in the bottom to put screws in.
I used those M3x4mm screws that are rather useless for anything else but are included in every “set of a thousand screws" just to make it look good. And behold:
Now it floated upright.
However.. the waterline was barely below deck and I'm sure it won't survive anything but completely still water. So I made another version with a slightly bigger hull it doesn't look as elegant now but that should add some buoyancy. Also the holes for the screws are pre drilled.
I'm not sure why anyone would want a warship in their bathtub but if you do.. here you are.
Pictures will come later when the print is finished and tests are done.
Oh, I just read the fine print for the Bathtub contest: “No Boats”.
I could not find a suitable (and free) model of the ship to use for this so I created one. This is my first attempt of “sculpting” in 3D. Actually I used CAD software for this because if I do something in Blender, it turns out to be a mess which gets worse with every click.
Also, I don't have an aquarium so, no pictures with fish.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
