Revision history:

02/02/24fixed some minor issues in the F360 file
04/02/24added STL files for a 20 x 55 mm spool

This one is inspired by the excellent design of @Noclafasm_8372 and Lego ;-), although everything is designed from scratch and the main features are different - so I guess it's not a remix.

Design goals:

  • compact size
  • stackable, both horizontally and vertically, with a permanent joint
  • easy to extend
  • easy to assemble, no glue, screws, bolts, nails …
  • easy to print, no support
  • robust

The posted model files work with the popular 20 x 55 mm spools with a 26 mm hole.

I have provided the F360 model file in case you need other spool dimensions. Just edit the spool component to your needs, everything else should adjust accordingly.

The 3MF file contains all the components in the correct orientation, but of course you need to set the correct number of instances

Printing is done with a layer height of 0.2 mm without support and an overall tolerance (F360 parameter) of 0.1 mm. This works like a charm on a MK4 with PLA and the default speed profile, on other printers you may have to experiment with the tolerance setting.

 - enjoy -
