A holder for up tho three MK4 metal print sheets, attachable to the Original Enclosure.
Features
- The slots for the sheets are offset not only vertically (as in many other designs out on Printables), but also horizontally. This facilitates access and leaves the labels on the metal sheets visible. See first and second picture.
- Slot width is 1.5 mm, which snugly fits my 1.2 mm plain sheet and 0.8 mm satin sheet. Since I do not own a textured sheet, I don't know whether that would fit as well.
- The rear gap is recessed and tilted mildly, which makes it easier to insert a sheet. See third picture.
- With the intention to reduce vibrations, I have added hidden printed latches on each side. They gently press the sheets towards the inner side of the holder. This reduces the risk of sheets touching and scratching each other. See picture four and five.
- Attachable to the (left) outside of the Original Prusa Enclosure. It can be either near the back (as in the pictures) or front of the enclosure's side wall. It comes with openings for M3 square nuts and cutouts for all screws and nylon rivets on sticking out on the Enclosure's side wall. The nut openings and cutouts are designed in a way, that it should be possible to mirror the design, for the right-hand side installation.
Assembly
- You will need two M3 square nuts and two M3x8mm screws. Both are typically spare parts of MK4 assembly.
- At the inner side, there are four inserts for the square nuts. Two near the front and two near the back. You will only need two of them. Which ones depends on whether you align the holder near the front or the back (as I did) of the Enclosure.
Print
I have printed it with PLA, 0.2mm SPEED + Input Shaper settings on my MK4. Basically the fasted default settings. I used a flat metal sheet as I recently (on another project) had delamination issues with large areas and satin sheets in combination with PLA. If unsure consider adding a brim.
Due to the horizontal offset of the sheets, the holder is fairly large and needs to be rotated 40° in order to fit on the build plate.
PS: This is my second model. Your feedback is very much appreciated!
