I designed this cap/insert for the lids of those 4l cereal containers I'm using to store my filament.
I didn't find any model which suits that special triangle-like shape of the opening, other common lids seem to have more round-shaped openings.
I made a few different variations to give you options to choose from, hopefully at least one of them will fit your needs.
There are mainly two different types of those caps available:
- the ones with a cutout for the typical cheap hygrometer/thermometer devices (cutout size: ~46x26mm) and
- the ones without the cutout.
Each type comes with three different types of holes, so you can also use these caps to feed your filament right out of the container:
- a cone shaped hole which is wider at the underside, the diameter at the upper side is about 4mm.
- a 6.5mm hole for those M6 nuts you can mount a bowden tube with.
- a 10.5mm hole for those M10 nuts you can mount a bowden tube with.
In addition to that, the cap with the cutout is also available without a hole, so that you can use this one just for storage while being able to easily add a hygrometer to the container.
I only printed the version with the cutout and the cone-shaped 4mm hole, as I only needed this one for feeding my filament right out of a container and I don't have any of those nuts for mounting an additional bowden tube.
I printed it using a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer height, using transparent PETG. Of course PLA will do the job just fine as well.
