Hey. I am considering this mod, but i have some small concerns:
- Using type A, what is the impact of fan draft on the print area? Even if the 92mm fan is spinning slow, i can see it moving enough air to unevenly cool the part being printed, maybe even the bed
- As for type B, it seems to rely on air being pulled through, but the heat generating components and heatsinks are all on the other side of the board, so it goes from active cooling from a small fan to a big fan pulling heat out of a plastic box full of holes

Am i overthinking? Whats your experience?

@Jonybat Thanks for the questions.

For type A, I never experienced any issues when I had this setup on my SV06, but I suppose you could get some extra cooling on the back left corner of large prints. I really don’t think it would be enough to make a difference. And certainly no significant difference on bed temp. The part cooler needs to blow a ton of concentrated air on the print to cool it. That extra airflow in that area from the 92mm fan would not be a concern to me.

For type B, the idea is that the fan is pulling air through the box, over the components of the board, then out the back. I agree it’s not as efficient as blowing directly on it, but with the larger fan, you’re moving more air, albeit in a less efficient manner than stock. You’re still getting better cooling on the board vs the stock setup.

@PhantomAura_1179965 Thanks for the quick answer

I was more concerned about the part potentially warping on that corner, but if you havent experienced it, i probably am overthinking :D

I might end up remixing, to try and fit a raspi and the fan on the inside, lets see what time allows

@Jonybat Absolutely! You can find the original STL files on the Sovol github, or start with mine. I made a PSU cover that incorporates a raspi if you want to check that out.

@Jonybat You can use this model to shift the motherboard to the left, thus using full printable area along with the nautilus fan mod.

@Jonybat any issues with something like the Nautilus cooling fan?

I think this is a good way to go to encase both the Pi and MCU

@KB_2485962 I assume you are asking about the model I linked, and not the one on this page. Check that model's comments, it has a picture with the answer to your question ;)
