Case designed to fit both the MCU and a Raspberry Pi, along with a 80mm Fan.

The front part has the holes for the 4* M5x12 fan screws and on the sides 4* M3x6.

As for the Back part, pick it accordingly to your Raspberry Pi version, and the piece mounts directly on the original locking system.
It takes 8* M2.5x5 threaded inserts for the hardware mounts and 4* M3x6 threaded inserts for the front of the case

After testing the temps, with the fan running on a low rpm, the pi runs on average 10-15Âșc lower than in a standard Pi case.

Quirks from this design, you have to re-route all the cables once your boards are installed in the case, the x-axis stepper cable HAS to come from the top of the case along with the extruder bundle cable, or you won't have enough cable length for the z-axis to reach the top, all the other cables come from the bottom.

The Raspberry has a snug fit, first from the usb/ethernet side. One extra detail, the SD card for the Raspberry Pi stays quite hidden under the cables due to its orientation, so I suggest using a USB boot drive instead if you find yourself replacing a broken SD often.

Total list of materials needed

  • 4* M5x12 countersunk (fan screws)
  • 4* M3x6 countersunk (case screws)
  • 4* M3x6 threaded inserts
  • 8* M2.5x8 caphead (pi and mcu screws)
  • 8* M2.5x5 threaded inserts
  • 1* 80x10 24v fan (80x125 might still fit)

I printed in PLA .4 nozzle and .2 layer height, with supports only being needed on the cable top and bottom cable ports, as well as the first two steps for the holes in the locking mechanism. Check last photo for more clarity on this subject.

Edit: Version 2 Fixed a few problems with the threaded inserts, increased the gap around the I/O ports, fixed the size of the fan screw holes, and for the RPi4B added a structural reinforcement to a corner that broke easily on V1.
