My mother asked me if I could 3D print a bunch of tick removers since her cat gets ticks all the time and she always lose the tick removers she's bought. I thought I could do better and design one that wouldn't be lost as easily. this design sits firmly on the fridge with 2 round 6x2mm neodymium magnets.

The name Tiffer is just TIckremover FRidge magnet shortened in a way that is easy to say, read and type (and to tidy up my files). Also feels good to name a design.

I use 40% cubic infill PLA and it came out nice and strong. I used 0.4mm nozzle for this design. max 0.2mm layer height.

The files included are:

  1. the Imbedded magnet version. this STL needs to be paused twice. once on layer 67 and once on 289. (I pre-sliced a G-code for it but I couldn't get it up in my files here so you will have to slice it yourself. There are plenty of guides on imbedding magnets on YouTube.) put in your 6x2 round neodymium magnets and press start again.
  2. The glue on magnet version. this STL doesn't need a pause but you will have to glue your magnet into the hole and cover it up with ‘’glue on lid STL''
  3. Glue on lid 5.8-6.2mm. these are the plugs for the glue on magnet version and you will have to match the size to whatever fits best on your printer. In my case the 5.9mm version worked the best but this can vary.
  4. The solid no magnet/REMIX version. This is for anyone that doesn't have/want to have magnets in it. Maybe for a camping trip or to just bring along. It also doubles as a remix file so you can more easily put your own holes in it to fit the magnets you have on hand.
  5. Imbedded magnets version/WITH CUSTOM SUPPORTS. Ignore this file Unless your z-axis drops a little during pauses and thus crashes on restart(as is the case with my particular stock ender 3)OR if you are working with difficult materials. This is to help stabilize the print and allow the print to take a hit or 2 during the print. It doubles the time and weight of the print but it gives quite a lot of strength if you need it.
  6. CUSTOM SUPPORT ONLY. If you want to use the custom support on the glue in magnet or solid version.

Recommendations and warnings:

Print it standing as it comes in the STLs

Do not use brims or rafts or the part that grabs the tick won't come out right.

I made the holes a bit on the oversized side to make fitment easier, this can equate to a bit of rattling if no glue is added.

Hardened steel nozzles are magnetic and if you don't put a drop of superglue on the imbedded version when placing magnets then odds are the magnet will want to fly up and stick to your nozzle. brass doesn't have this issue.

I recomend deburring/sanding the first layer a bit to make it more comfortable for yourself or your pet to have it slide on skin/fur more smoothly.
