Reusable Hex Scraper

Here's the same amazing Hex scraper we all know and love, but made reusable. Don't worry, it's still hexagons galore!

I was about to make the beloved hex scraper (since the one that came preloaded on my X1C was kinda garbage) but I thought to myself why should I print a nice scraper if I'll have to print a full one again every time the blade goes bad. So, I remade it to have the blade be reusable!

I also included the STEP file of the model in addition to stl because I am so tired of always converting stl just to edit files. So you're welcome to the few people who actually cared.

.

Print Instructions:

Filament: PLA, PETG (I used PLA)
Layer Height: 0.2mm (or lower if desired)
Nozzle: 0.4mm
Support: None
Brim: None
Infill: 15% (can do more, but I wouldn't go below 15%)

Additional Notes:

  • Blade:
    • Normal Orientation
    • Sizing: 100% on X1C, may need to do 101% or 102% if using other printers
  • Body:
    • Due to overhangs, make sure to print the scraper body upside down
    • Sizing: 100%

.

Update 01/29/24:

I had a request to make a slimmer version of the scraper for those rocking a fun size build plate. Hopefully you like it as much as you do V2!

.

Update 01/21/24:

I made a pretty funky Voronoi version of this scraper (the blade is voronoied too) for the current contest. Pretty cool if anyone wants to check it out

.

Update 11/11/23:

As requested, I added print instructions for those who want it. I also made a note to print the scraper body upside down (due to overhangs).

Also, some have noted the weird fillets on the blade and body which seemed to prevent printing the blade with a layer height under 0.2mm. Therefore, I removed the fillets and replaced them with (more simplistic) chamfers which should alleviate the minimum layer height problem.

I have re-uploaded the V2 files with the updated features.

.

Update 08/04/23:

Although I have found success printing the blades at 100% on my Bambu X1C, some have found the blade fit to be slightly loose when printing on theirs. If this is the case for you, the consensus seems to be that printing the blade at 101% provides a nice snug fit.

.

Update 03/09/23:

V1 blade of the scraper seemed to require a finger to hold the blade down while scraping, shouldn't be a problem logistically but I felt like I could improve it. Therefore, I redesigned the scraper (V2) so that the blade attaches from the bottom of the scraper. I have files of everything still up so those who originally printed V1 can continue to use the blade for V1 and those who haven't downloaded it yet (why not?) can choose which ever version they prefer! With that said, the V2 blade will work with the V1 body if you want the added benefits of the improved design, it just won't be flush.

A community member gave me the idea of combining aspects of both, so I have now replaced V1 with V1.5 (confused yet) which should fix some of the problems with the original blade for those of you who would prefer to stick with the V1 body.

Overall, I'd still recommend going with V2 if this is your first download but both will work just fine and get any of your scraping jobs done!
