Drain grate is designed for a 90mm drain pipe with a ramped entry to allow some build up of leaves before it clogs. It is made in 2 parts which can be glued or plastic welded together. The top of the grate is about 23mm high (in attached photos my surface drain is 50mm deep)

The downside to this design is the need to use supports which will be tedious to remove if you use PETG like I did. PLA is not suitable outside, ABS would be good but I think it would be problematical with warping and layer splitting on the printer.

I used a 3d printer pen with PETG to weld the pieces together however you may be able to use a soldering iron to do the job

Printer parameters:

  • layer height 0.2mm
  • supports required
  • Suggest 3 perimeter layers for the build
  • PETG recommended (with a hot air gun to get rid of the whiskers after removing the support material)
  • design will fit on a Prusa I3 plate but you may wish to reduce the distance the startup skirt loop perimeter is away (say 1mm) from the object due to the uneven heating at the edge of the build plate.

STEP file has been provided if you want to modify.

cheers

Barry
