This spool holder is designed to fit the bottom of a Wildone 4L Airtight Food Storage Container, turning it into a filament dry box for use with a 3D printer directly or with any number of multi-material units by using a separate filament buffer solution. This spool holder/dry box combination accommodates filament spools up to 64 mm in width and can easily be adjusted to fit spools that are more narrow.
You will need to print:
1x Base
2x Rail
2x Inside
2x Outside
Print Settings:
All parts should already be properly oriented. Parts have been designed using the cross-bridge hole method to allow floating holes to be printed without supports. For best results, print using a 0.2 mm layer height. I used 40% infill, but you can experiment with other infill densities if you’d like.
Bill of Materials — for each spool holder you will need:
4x 608 bearings — I like the price, quality, & tolerances of these from Amazon
4x M3x12 socket head cap screws
4x M3x6 socket head cap screws
8x M3 hex nuts
If you don’t already have an assortment of fasteners, I recommend Bolt Depot
Additionally, since this spool holder is designed to fit the Wildone 4L Food Storage Container (or one of the many look-alike containers), you will need one of those. Available here.
To complete the filament dry box build, you will need a way for the filament to exit the dry box. There are many different solutions available, but I like the Dry-box Filament Pass-Through by motocoder.
Also, to keep the filament in the dry box dry, I like the Silica Gel Canister by papabravo. It can very easily lay in the bottom of the dry box to the front or rear of the spool holder without interference.

This spool holder utilizes the same base shape as rf1989’s Filament Drybox for Wildone Food Storage Container 4L. It fits perfectly in the food storage container it was designed for. It also draws on design elements from the original TUSH - The Ultimate Spool Holder by filamentry and the TUSH2 - Sliding Positions remix by spongybob1958.

How I Designed This
I started with the WildoneDryboxPlatform.stl from rf1989’s Filament Drybox for Wildone Food Storage Container 4L, remixed it heavily to suit my design, & modeled the rest of my spool holder components in Fusion 360.
