Lightweight topology optimized mounting adapter for the Biqu H2 V2 on the Elegoo Neptune 3 printer. To install heatset inserts are added to the 4.5 mm holes and three screws are used to attach the adapter plate to the Biqu H2 V2. The original carriage plate is then added and five screws used to affix the carriage plate to the adapter plate, and one final screw and washer added that goes from the back of the carriage plate through to the bottom extruder mounting hole.
This system is prints great and is very lightweight, not far from the mass of the original bowden system and much better than my previous DD setup using the X stepper and a BMG extruder. Weights for references:
Carriage plate base weight (plate, rollers, screws): 145g
Stock configuration total: 290 g
Biqu H2 V2 mod (excluding CAN bus board and mount): 400 g
Direct drive w/BMG extruder, printed duct, and X and E motor switched: 615g
Note one of the photos is of a previous version which did not have the top bracket to increase stability.
Parts needed
