Description

PDF

Do you need a simple name tag but you want to create it using an OpenSCAD file with more controls than an Apollo Command Module? If so, do I have great news for you!

You've got controls for

  • tag length, width, thickness, corner radius and chamfer size
  • clip/keyring attachment slot on/off, diameter, perimeter and length
  • text inset depth or raise height
  • greeting text
  • name text
  • text size (independent controls for greeting and name)
  • font
  • line spacing (independent for greeting and name)
  • text alignment (left or center)

Code Mods

I included two Mac fonts in the dropdown. You can easily add your own font choices to the comment following the font variable declaration.

Printing

No need for supports or brims. Coded with 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer height in mind. Examples were printed in Printed Solid PLA on a MK3S, sliced in PrusaSlicer 2.4.2 using the default “Generic PLA” profile. The raised text example had ironing for topmost surface only turned on.

Update 2022-06-11

OpenSCAD updated with a third, split raised and inset text option. The greeting area uses inset text while the name area uses raised.
