Elegant. Understated. Cup. These all describe this model. If you were looking for a high-end sturdy premium printable desk accessory to store all of your fine pens, tools, and other accoutrements, then you’ve come to the right place. Or you can print it in a ridiculous bright orange color. Whatever you want, friend, I don‘t make the rules.

Print instructions

This is vase mode (the best mode) cup. While that’s the only real requirement, here are the setting I used:

  • Spiral vase mode / Spiralize outer contour: turn this on, this is how the whole magic works
  • Line Width: 0.8mm (this gets you a really sturdy cup, and yes, you can do it with a 0.4mm nozzle)
  • Layer Height: 0.3mm (not necessarily required, but I like to keep things fast)
  • Bottom Thickness / Bottom Layers: 1.2mm (e.g. 4 layers at 0.3mm layer height)
  • Wall speed: 30mm/s (you are pushing a lot of plastic, so a slower speed is best, though if you are confident in your hot end you can go faster)
  • Printing Temperature: +10 to +15 degrees hotter than your usual temperature
  • Flow: 110% (because why not)

Special note for Prusa Slicer: Under Print Settings > Advanced, there is a "Slice gap closing radius" setting. You should set this to 0. It might work without it, but this is a general good practice for vase mode prints.

Note

The model in the photos was printed on an Elegoo Neptune 2 with a 0.4mm nozzle in Polymaker PolyTerra sunrise orange PLA.
