Simple chess set that can help new players remember what moves are allowed by different pieces. They have to be told what to look for but after that they can look at the piece to remember. For Instance:

Crown on King and Queen each have 8 segments to remind about the different directions that the piece can move. The King has a short slot below the crown to remind that the King normally can only move one square. Also, the King's Crown has much shorter slots in the battlement to remind about the short movements.

The Bishop has a slanted back to remind the player that the Bishop can only move diagonally. There is also a diagonal marque to help remind about movement.

The Knight has a faceplate that looks like two eye slots, but it actually reminds the player of the motion that a Knight is allowed to play.

The Rook is square and has two slots in its battlement indicating the direction of movement. There are long arrow slits on each side reminding that the Rook can move long distances.

Lastly, the Pawn is a simple piece that indicates with a small arrow slot that it normally moves a single square forward.
