Instead of using a wood backing and nails, this String Art project uses a 3D Printed frame. There are two layers of holes so you can add extra depth to your design. I used a Size 24 tapestry needle with about 8 meters of embroidery floss (one whole unit). That size needle fits great in the holes, but you do have to angle you needle when working with the ears (See photo).
For finishing, I used three 5mm pompom balls (from the craft store) for facial features. I also opted to dab glue on my knots to better secure and conceal them.
