This hook is designed to work very similar to the Zpacks closure system for those that are looking for such a solution for MYOG tarps/shelters or to replace sketchy stock options (such as that found on Six Moon Design Shelters). It is designed to be used with 1.5 mm - 2mm dyneema cord. My personal setup used 1.8mm cord. Printed weight is 1.1 grams.
I printed mine out of Prusament PETG with 25% infill, and 4 perimeter lines. I tested cord slippage at about 38 lbs if I remember correctly (with 1.8mm cord), and the hook broke at 57 lbs of force when a knot is tied into the cord.
Longevity? I originally replaced the stock door hook on a Six Moon Designs Gatewood Cape with this hook and used it on two trips. It worked great but I had a section PCT hike planned and decided to take my Zpacks Pocket tarp instead. I replaced the stock Zpacks hook with this one for that hike just to test durability. I spent 28 days hiking 470 miles in the Sierra Nevadas and I had no issues with the hook at all. I am very pleased with how it turned out.
BONUS! Also included is a second static hook that should be much stronger and is designed to attach to your shelters front door guyline via a prusik hitch. It is inspired (more like copied) from u/VanCapere of Reddit (also know as @MontMollar on IG) who posted an amazing MYOG shelter on the r/myog subreddit found here that utilized a similar hook design. NOTE: this new hook is untested and I have no idea how it will perform, I look forward to hearing back from you all!
