About

According to 3dbenchy.com, “#3DBenchy is designed to offer a large array of challenging geometrical features for 3D printers, and touch on different issues related to additive manufacturing.” Now, printers have come a long way since the #3DBenchy was released almost ten years ago, which is why Steambenchy Willie introduces a few new challenges that even modern machines may struggle with, all while preserving all the critical dimensions and challenging features of the original.

  • Bed adhesion: If you dare print without a brim, the paddles are a brutal bed adhesion test (at least on my SV04 with a Flashforge build sheet).
  • Overhangs: The paddles also provide varying degrees of mean overhangs.
  • Thin features: Printing the thin legs standing is beyond suboptimal, which is obviously good for a torture test.
  • General miniature printing: Mickey should give you an idea of your machine's ability to print tiny characters.

Printing

Just like the original, my remix is meant to be printed at .2mm layer height with a .4mm nozzle. It may require some tweaking of more advanced settings to get the paddles to stick (or just add a brim, I won't judge).

While this is a dual color print, it will print just as well on your single color machine - just add both STLs and slice as usual.
