Thanks so Much for this!
Thanks so Much for this!
It clips on nicely to the second section of my Benro Tortoise, the battery is a bit loose and I would have liked a tighter fit but it's perfectly good enough and does the job spot on :) (edited)
Klasse Arbeit! Gibt es die Dateien auch für ein 8" Newton?
@Jannis483 Danke :)
Nein, ich habe nur einen 6" und somit auch nur Maße für diesen einen Tubus.
Just spent the last few hours going over MrDeepAddicted's strain wave gearbox and all the changes you made in it, it's pretty awesome!
Have you done any more tests with this version, and could you consider sharing the .step file?
@Luke_3D
Thank you for uploading the STEP file, I'm going to try tinkering with it and see if I can figure out how to get it to stop skipping, will keep you posted =)
I see you've swapped the oval wave generator with loose bearings for a number of ball bearings instead, was that to stiffen it?
@DeviousAPK_362165 Yes, the Flexspline may only deform ovally. With only 2 points as a wave generator, a kind of wave forms next to the bearings in the flexspline when torque is generated. In order to prevent this unwanted deformation, I used as many bearings as possible to create the shape in a precisely defined manner. This allows smooth running and much more torque.
I would like to ask if it can run accurately under a load of around 6-8kg? If not, what is its maximum load?
@mengshengma_2398412 Hi, no, that definitely won't work. The gearing here is extremely fine, just a few tenths of a millimeter. How much torque this gear can generate depends on many factors. But it's not much, no matter what you try.
Any chance you could make this for a smaller size? Say 25mm my tripod is carbon fibre and this is exactly what im looking for. Ive printed it but sadly its just too big. Or even a few versions at 5mm increments so others can print the size to their own tripod. Im sure you would get alot more people using the print that way. Like my smallest tripod goes down to 15mm. @Exe_81268 You're in luck, I have 2 more models for normal tripods :)

Print with ABS. Thank's for this amazing design.
I have just adapt it for my equatorial base wich use a 3/8 photo screew. So I have drill a 10mm hole on 1mm, to permit to use a 3/8 screew adapter
Hi
Do you have a step / fusion360 file for this? My mounting plate is 75mm not 50, so I’d like to modify it to suit. Also, the tube mount - which model is that?
Thanks
Jason
Let's start ... with PETG. I remodeled every piece in Fusion 3D in order to fine tune them.
Bought magnets and grub screws (both M4). I had already the same stepper 17HS13-0404S-PG27. The OnStep WeMos&CNC3 components are on their way.
By chance I have mounted a Baader BDS-SC on my SC11 EHD, so Lucas' focuser adapter will fit without changes. I
will also model an adapter for the original C11 mirror focuser, as it will be easy to switch from manual focus to motor focus.
I will keep this post updated as I progress.
By the way ... Great project Lucas, exactly what you would expect from a German engineer :-)!
@Luke_3D I will, and possibly also an adapter for the Tak TSA-120. I forgot another tweak: I replaced the brass inserts in the magnetic plate with embedded M3 nuts, since in my experience they hold better.
Tschüss!
@Luca_71466 almost there :-). I remodeled everything from scratch, using your STLs as blueprint. I made two versions for the TSA-120, one for your MagneTIC and one for the standard EAF/Gemini bracket.
I improved the couplers' gears to avoid troubles with printing tolerances: I designed s "self-lock" gear which should have zero backlash and easy mesh.
Soon on this screen! (edited)
Is there any backlash from the gearbox on the stepper motor?
@cothyh_202394 Yes, of course the gearbox has a little backlash, this is a planetary gearbox and these are never without backlash. I use linear algorithm, backlash has no role. And... My EAF has a lot more backlash
