Hey everyone here's my design for an ultra compact mATX case with GPU support.

Intro:

The build was made almost entirely from spare parts hence the unusual combination of hardware.

The unconventional orientation of the motherboard was in order to provide easier access to the rear IO as the PC sits in a shelving unit.

Once assembled, the case is quite sturdy. Have transported it in a bag without issue.

Case Dimensions:

  • 287mm x 98mm x 188mm, 5.29L (ex. feet and power button)
  • 298mm x 98mm x 191mm, 5.58L (inc. feet and power button)

Part Compatibility:

  • Motherboard: Any of the undersize/cheap mATX boards (226mm x 174mm), note the top panel may need to be modified if your rear IO or pcie slot layout differs - my build uses a Biostar A320mh
  • GPU: Must be low profile, can be more than one slot thick, max length ~172mm. Mounting bracket must be removed - my build uses a quadro P620 which is single slot , 145mm long, 40W TDP
  • PSU: HDplex GaN 250W aio
  • Cooler: The case fits anything up to ~75mm however you may be limited by the front USB ports (see 3rd pic) - my build uses an IS-55 (55mm)
  • Storage: Position included for 1x2.5" drive on the front panel, mounted using tape. Of course nvme drives are preferable
  • CPU: Obviously anything can be installed but power is a major consideration due to both cooling and the PSU - my build uses an R5 1600AF (80W under load) which has no problems
  • RAM: Dictated by CPU cooler

Note: all clearance estimations are quite conservative, however I am only basically them on the CAD and have not actually measured the assembled case

Case Hardware:

  • 16x M5 Heat set inserts (up to 8mm long) - to join case panels
  • 16x M5x12mm Machine screw - to join case panels
  • 8x M3 Heat set inserts - for motherboard standoffs and GPU mount
  • 6x M3x8mm Machine screw - to mount PSU and USB ports
  • 4x 15mm diameter rubber feet
  • 1x MX switch - power button
  • 1x power LED
  • Front USB 3 ports - optional, cutout can easily be removed from CAD

Print Settings:

  • Ventilated panels were made by setting top and bottom layers to 0, then using a low density grid infill
  • Recommend printing at least the “mesh side panel” and “rear panel” as ventilated
