Instead of using bobbins and winding small amounts of yarn, these weights allow use of yarn straight off the cake or cone. They will hold enough weight with friction to keep your yarn on your needles, and can be slid down the length of the yarn to prepare for the next pass.
How to Use: Set cake or cone of yarn on the floor, and using a tapestry/sewing needle, thread the yarn end back and forth through the required holes in the body, and then up through the top hole. Use the free end to begin your intarsia section. If the weights do not hang still, then more passes are required to increase friction. If the weight is difficult to slide down the yarn towards the floor then less passes are required.
Printing: Reduce the infill and scale down for lighter yarns, increase infill and scale up for heavier/bulky yarns. The file as is works well for fingering/sport weight but may differ with slipperiness or other factors.
This model is based off of something in an instructional video (for the Brother convertible 400) during the intarsia portion.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
