I built the Game Boy Color Shadow Box but made some slight modifications to fit 6x Game Boys instead of the original 5x.

I printed the Gameboy_Cartridge_Mount.stl and filed the edges to make them fit snug in my Game Boys.

The original project used this shadow box, but I needed some extra space so I bought this shadow box.

Here's a list of the colors if you want to source your own Game Boys to build this.

Assembly Instructions

I've attached a .svg for Inkscape or a .pdf for printing which I used to lay out the holes (here's the spreadsheet I used for calculating the locations of everything). The paper should be placed horizontally with the line across the top and the paper aligned to the top, left corner. Another copy of the paper should be placed in the same spot and opened like a book so it's upside down on the right side of the frame (with the print side down, but the dotted line continuing across the board). This second paper should be aligned to the top, right side. There will be some overlap in the middle between the two pieces of paper. The center of dotted line is the location of the top of the Game Boys. The dots are for the holes to mount the 3D prints.

I used small nails in the dots of the paper to align and adjust the Game Boys and thus the paper to make everything perfectly spaced. I measured about 0.19" between each Game Boy. Based on your printer, there may need to be slight adjustments. I had to move things 1/8" off of my calculated measurements due to how the image was printed.

I used an automatic center punch to mark the locations of the holes on the backer board and a small drill bit to make the holes. I had some screws that worked and I just screwed them from the back of the board into the 3D prints. I bent the tabs onto this backer board to hold it in place. There wasn't room to use the cardboard mounting plate anymore so I found a new way to mount the frame.
