This uses a cheap steel plate as a base for a small desktop Gridfinity storage solution. The plate is a Simpson Strong-Tie model TP57, about $3.00 at your local big hardware store. 

I used the excellent Fusion 360 GridfinityGenerator to make the base plate. It should snap together, but .STEP is included as your tolerances may vary. 

Tip - check the flatness of the plate before you leave the store.
