Kallax Drawers: Magnetized Gridfinity Baseplate

I got tired of spilling bins when quickly opening the drawer so I designed this heavy duty baseplate with magnets.

Gridfinity is nice, but have you had the pleasure of organizing hundreds of scattered screws after opening a drawer a bit too fast? Exactly. This model is big, bold, and it's built for battle. Okay, maybe not battle, but definitely against me excitedly opening my drawers with a bit too much enthusiasm.

Forget about the flimsy inserts without magnets. This thing is a fortress. I can never go back to drawer inserts without magnets.

This model:

  • Has holes for 6x2 magnets
  • Is also printable in four pieces
  • Boasts a heavy duty construction
  • Takes ages to print
  • Eats up lots of filament

Truly a game-changer for people who open their drawers with even slightly more energy than a government buerocrat. I know what you're thinking: "But it's so heavy!" You're right. It's a tank. It's supposed to be. I've gone even further and added additional UHU Patafix pads to mine to make absolutely sure this thing stays in place.

Printbed too small? Don't worry, you can compensate for size using proper technique. I've split it up into four pieces, 175x140 mm at their largest. Optional holes for screwing them together included.

My recommendations for hardware:

  • 6x2 Magnets
  • UHU Patafix or alternatives (optional)
  • M3x12 screws & nuts (optional)

Download and print this now. Your sanity is worth it.

Then afterwards post makes and like this to help save others from hours of screw sorting. And to motivate me to post more models. Happy printing!
