This is yet another No-mess oil filter wrench but you can adjust the model to fit your oil filter.
The most of oil filter sizes are standardized such as 64.3mm 64.5mm 65mm 74mm etc. However, reality is there so many variety of size depends on filter manufacturer. As a result, it is hard to find the model which has exact size of filter you need.
Motivation of this design is solve this problem. This is a parametrized oil filter wrench model with FreeCAD. You can adjust the model parameters to fit your needs.
How to change parameter:
Open parameter spreadsheet in the project
Modify Filter diameter parameter in the sheet to fit your filter
Note: Do not change the parameter aggressively like 63.5 to 40mm one time; Instead change it gradually like 63.5 → 60 → 55 → … → 40mm. Otherwise FreeCAD will often failed recompute and broke the model)
If you want to change the cone geometry, adjust the parameters: Cone {top, rib, bottom} diameter accordingly. The middle diameter will be adjusted by your filter size.
Change log:
Update: 2024/08/14 (v2)
Fixed broken link when opening in FreeCAD 0.21.2
I confirmed it can open without warnings…
Fixed the model still not not fully parameterized to parametric
Update: 2024/08/12 (v2)
Resolve spreadsheet alias name conflicts
Remove unnecessary external geometry reference (It caused many warnings)
Designed and checked in FreeCAD 0.22-dev
You can adjust the model with a parameter sheet in the FreeCAD project.
To test with your filter, you can use filter_wrench_tester model with save print time and material.
Recommended material is PET-G or more high temperature resist material such as ABS, ASA. If you use only for under normal temperature, PLA is also okay.
