@_2373380 you will have to remove stock motor pulleys. Stock idler pulleys could work, probably you'll need gaskets/washers to compensate height difference.
Can this project support lidar?
Added new motor mounts to preserve print area.
@Tyler_2750898 no, you can use any motors, see corresponding bom section for necessary parts. For non-stock motors use k1_motor_mount_couplers_xxxx.stl mounts. I'll update readme to clarify this.

Would it work just by adding the linear guide only to the x-axis?

Hello Alexander, I built this project on a K1Max using the LDO-42STH48-2504AH motors with the necessary alterations to the printer.cfg file, but every time I try to print something, I get an error. The printer homes fine, butfails to print. I was wondering if you could share your printer.cfg file so we can cross check any configurations that might be off
@KhanTigre_2284803 what error do you get? You have to change Y max position, bed size (and mesh) and move nozzle cleaning point. (edited)
@kemsky_1347368 Managed to fix it, had to change the parameters for the bed mesh to match the bed size in teh printer.cfg

I'm confused about how to cut down the lengths for the mgn12 rails in x and y.
@Slashedice_2397434 , there are two important dimensions: 1 - distance between centers of the far left and far right holes of the rail - it should be 375 mm for both X and Y; 2 - total length of the rail, for X max length is 410 mm, for Y safe max length is 393 mm.
For example, X has (410 - 375) / 2 = 17.5 mm distance between end of the rail and center of the first hole on each side.

@_2441745 see stl folder on github, k1_motor_mount_couplers_stock_xxx.stl is for stock motors with long shafts, k1_motor_mount_couplers_xxx.stl - for non-stock motors.
Maybe I'm dumb, but where does the heatset insert go on the right/left joints?

@D3adshot_2051762, this mod is only for K1 Max, currently I'm working on K1 mod, it is slightly more complicated, print area will be reduced by at least 10mm along Y axis.
