The Douglas DC-10 is a three-engine wide-body jet airliner produced by McDonnell Douglas, first flown in 1970 and entering service in 1971. Known for its long-range capabilities, the DC-10 could carry up to 380 passengers and featured two engines under the wings and a third at the tail. Despite its innovative design, the DC-10 faced several safety issues, particularly with its cargo doors. Nonetheless, it became a significant aircraft in commercial aviation history, with many units continuing to operate as freighters and military tankers.
