Updates:
- [01/06/2024] - Stopper feature - Added a new Base + Stopper and Stopper slider. These pieces will allow you to lock the spiral.
- [17/05/2024] - Updated the “Base” piece to have 5 circles in the bottom face in case you want to glue rubber feet
- [16/05/2024] - Added Top piece with 2 and 3 jaws
This is a new version of Helping Jaws
No screws, inserts or bearings are needed. 100% Printed parts.
Tested with PLA, no supports needed
Print the spiral and the teeth as perfectly as you can.
Use “Ironing” on the top surfaces of the Spiral and Base to make them as perfect as possible.
After assembling, things might be a bit stuck but just open and close the teeth several times until it starts to spin freely.
I added slots for 8mm diameter nuts (M8) in the Base and Spiral for weight.
These are optional but it feels better to handle the Helping Jaws
I also used machine oil (any thin oil will work) to make it as frictionless as possible.
Apply the oil to the spiral and below the spiral.
