This birdhouse is a special gift for my Mom, inspired by the one my late Grandfather made, which has since decayed. She cherished his birdhouse, so I wanted to create a durable version that she can enjoy for many years to come.
Before you decide to print this birdhouse, please consider that it is intended for long-term use to avoid it becoming a limited-use plastic item outdoors. Another important consideration is that plastic insulates heat differently than wood, which means it can get quite hot inside the birdhouse. I keep mine in a shaded part of my yard and live in a cooler climate. Some birds may not tolerate the heat as well, so this is an important factor to keep in mind. Even if birds in your area don’t use it due to the heat, it still makes a beautiful decoration.
I used PETG filament for printing. I used a 0.6 mm nozzle, but this will be fine to print with any size nozzle. The connecting hardware are all M5 sized (I used these nuts and bolts). Some of the parts will need to be printed more than once. You will need to print
