Measuring Cap 160ml for Vax 1.5Litre Ultra+ Cleaning Solution

Ultra+ cap is only about 16ml and I need 160ml per tankful on my Vax 3-in-1 so this measures it in one go.

The old Vax brand cleaning solutions came with a 40ml dosing cap which was ok but still needed 4 capfuls per tankful of cleaning solution.

Then I bought their Ultra+ 1.5L cleaning solution and discovered that the cap is only about 16ml, so unless you have a suitable measuring container you'll be wanting a cap with a more sensible capacity, or spend ages measuring out 10 capfuls!!!  :o)  I need 160ml for my Vax 3-in-1's 4L tank (it's still 40ml/L dilution like previous solutions for carpets) so I decided to design a 160ml over-cap to fit the existing cap and the bulge on the top of the bottle so it is stable and looks nice, and just takes one fill to dose my tank.

I came close with the capacity just by calculating the volume of the inner cylinder, brimful is 156ml and that's probably because I didn't think the cap-grip-fins would take up that much volume, hahahah. Anyway, it's close enough for jazz, just fill holding it over the reservoir until it starts to spill and that's about 160ml.

I measured the existing cap hoping to get a fairly tight fit, but left a fraction too much tolerance so it's snug but not a tight grip - in the end I decided that was also close enough for jazz and didn't bother reprinting it. If it annoys me, I'll just wrap some sellotape around the existing lid until it's a tighter fit! It stays on if I invert the bottle.

I used PLA+ so anything will do. 0.2mm layers and 0.4mm nozzle are fine. No supports as it's printed on the flat face and the grip fins are drawn at 45deg overhang which will print fine unsupported. It uses about 23g of filament (7.3m) and takes about 3 hours at 60mm/sec and costs about 36p at the price I pay for Elegoo PLA+.

I designed and printed this for fun, “because I can”, rather than because I really needed to. But then that goes for most of my prints anyway.
