The slot for the screen-control buttons wasn't quite long enough for my display. Nothing that couldn't be fixed in a few seconds with a 2mm drill bit, but the model could use some adjustment to deal with Waveshare's loose manufacturing tolerances.
@Carnildo_1057588 Thanks for the update, I'll add a couple of mm to each side. The buttons are a tight fit, were they ok?
I did update the model not long back, 5mm holes for the screen mount to allow for the tolerences. Did you use that model or the original? Just wondering if the 5mm holes were enough. (edited)
@brett Buttons were a tight fit, but perfectly aligned. I'm guessing there's some slop in how how the PCBs get cut.
I used the original model. The holes are misaligned, but only by about a millimeter -- the larger holes should be plenty large enough.
@EvanJWhitney_952088 I see what you mean about the misaligned holes. :( I've attached a picture of mine. I'm thinking there might be a slight variance with their positioning of the mainboard. (edited)
Here is my finished product, the screws for the screen to attach to were m3x12mm those worked best as the 16 and 20mm pushed the screen out away from the bezel. This came out so well im so happy, I would like to figure out a better stand and also a wall mount option that is removable, I have no idea how to design or do any of this lol, i also printed this with pla creative brand on a flashforge 5m .4 nozzle (textured bed)
Thank you so much for making this, been looking for this for a while! Couple suggestions, for the stand if the bottom leg parts could be longer and maybe have a support that would be awesome (ones not for battery. The stand part doesn’t need to be screwed in they fit perfect and snug, the holes that go into the back of the display dont line up, no biggie I can always drill them out but that would effect the stand part. Screw m3 are a a bit snug a m2.5 probably would be better. M3x20mm or even M3x16mm is perfect. Thank you again for this awesome design!
@EvanJWhitney_952088 Thank you for the feedback Evan.
I agree with you about the stands, they were just a quick prototype. I think a looped design would be better.
As for the holes not aligning, do you have a version number on your screen? They do align for me, that's why I incorporated them into the stands, for extra strength.
The M3 screws were just for the outer points, as that was the inserts I had on hand.
@brett you’re welcome and I’m not sure on version I’ll have to look I have some pics to upload here!
