Adjustable/lockable ball-joint phone holder for use as a camera mount for Prusa Connect.
Fits to any 3030 extrusion, without the need of any dismantling to expose the extrusion ends.
I made this for use with Prusa connect with my Prusa mini, but it should work with any 3030-extrusion.
It may be fitted in multiple ways depending on your liking since the joints are adjustable and it mounts on any 3030-extrusion part. It may also be mounted on any flat surface using the “screw”-fixture with 4 x M4 Screws.
There are a short and a long version of the joint available depending on wished mounting position/distance.
In my mounting example i used:
3 x “rod_short”
4 x “screw_cap”
4 x “ball”
1 x “rod_double”
and, of course, 1x of each:
holder_*
extrusion_*
Everything prints without supports except the screw_cap which benefits from supports for build plate.
I included a picture of the orientation in which I printed everything.
If you print in PLA you may need to consider using a brim since theres only one perimiter for the bottom layer for some parts. I printed in PETG which worked very well since PETG sticks like h*ll.
I used 80% rectilinear infill for extra strength.
The “screw_cap” may be printed right side up as well but then, at least for me, need some extra work filing/sanding to get it to thread properly.
Update:
After some feedback I have updated some parts to v2 (*_v2-files) with a coarser thread (M9 instead of M6) to hopefully make the parts stronger. I haven't printed the new version my self since I didn't experience the problem with the print being to fragile. So please report back if there is a problem with the new version.
Update 2:
Added a screw fixture per request. It may be screwed to any flat surface using 4 x M4 screws. The dimensions are adjusted to fit an IKEA Lack leg but any surface larger than that will work.
Update 3:
rod_double_v2 a left hand thread by mistake. changed to right hand on both sides on rod_double_v25.
