Update:
Improved volume and fit, as well as a version for the left hand. (Example printed in white PLA+ from eSUN).
Background:
Created for my partner who has quite big palms - he said when playing for longer it is straining to hold the PS backbone +phone with his right hand, as the analogue stick is positioned lower compared to the left one.
Mission: To create a more ergonomic grip for the right hand, providing extra / longer volume in the palm, while not compromising the ease of of use.
Print instructions:
Print in place (can be printed with supports under the buttom part, but I decided to not use supports and just sand with 320 paper after). Printed in Prusament PLA galaxy black with 0.2mm layer height and 0.6mm nozzle (since installed) and 4 perimeters, 15% infill.
There might be an error message about open faces. PrusaSlicer had no issues repairing these (just click on the warning triangle).
If printing from the STL files of the new version, be aware that fusion did not want to combine parts of the model anymore and when importing to the slicer, this should be done using split into parts (otherwise the better fit for the middle bar of the backbone is positioned at the wrong height).
Notes: This was a tricky project and required quite a few iterations for the adequate end result. The backbone has many curves that change in thickness etc.
If you like it a little more heavy: @RichardLintin_531351 recommends to print it with 100% infill. Which will also make it feel more balanced. For people with impairments or weak wrists I do not recommend adding weight, as this may become painful during prolonged gaming sessions ;)
It does not budge once installed and fulfils the mission just fine!
Feel free to remix.
I hope you enjoy it and it improves your gaming experience :)
