I was playing around with my CAD system and hours later a barrel fell out of my 3D printer. Yes, this happens more often then you might thinkā¦
This is a barrel with a hinged lid. It has a diamenter of ~110mm and a height of ~125mm. The inner volume of the barel is ~900ml. If you prefer an open barrel, you can leave the lid away.
Print everything but the lid with 0.2mm layer height, 3 walls, 5 tops, 4 bottoms, 8% gyroid infill and no support. The lid should be printed with a layer height of 0.12mm so that the print-in-place hinge is working without issues.
I was using PLA-wood for the barrel and the lid. This gives the model a nice look and feel. For the rings dark PLA-metal is perfect.
The included 3mf file is for OrcaSlicer and Bambu Studio.
For assembly glue the rings to the barrel and squeeze the lid on the top of the barrel. It is a tight fit, but you can squeeze the sides of the lid a little bit. A few drips of superglue keep the lid in place.
According to the filament you used and your printer settings it might be necessary to sand the lid or the barrel a little bit. Then the lid should open and close flawlessly.
