This design is based on spacing points as equally as possible on a sphere (using charge-like relaxation optimization) and then cutting planar slices perpendicular to those directions. This make fairest as possible dice for any number sided Die. Numbers cut out from opposite site (because it not platonic solid it can be not on dice face).

It can be good narrative of cursed player who cannot do his absolute best, and must roll d20 check with d19. Or gift from DM for amazing roleplaying - d21 instead of d20 (double crit for god-rewarded adventurer).

You can recreate platonic solids (classic d6 d20 d12) dice with this technique, but they appear to be slightly cursed. Consider pretty fair probability distribution, they still can be used.

Printing FDM
  • Make sure to use 3d infill (Gyroid) for better weight distribution.
  • Decrease top and bottom solid layers (and minimum shell thickness) to prevent solid infill on inclined walls (for better weight distribution)
  • Place on face (or use more support, if you don't like bottom surface)
  • Scale up (i like 110-120%) for better readability
  • Use small layer height (for me 0.1 and 4 perimeters do great, <30 min per dice)
  • Add supports if needed (automatic support painting works for me great) Helps with overhangs and bad bed adhesion.

Weight distribution closer to the surface makes it enjoyable to roll, especially grippy plastics like matte.

To make new or change dice:
  1. Change python script for number of sides num_points = 19 and run
  2. Place output of script in angles variable in openscad.
  3. Change deep of the cut to make cuts intersect slightly. (scad file already have good numbers and angles for some dices)
  4. Customize font, render, export stl
  5. You are great, and have cursed unique di.
PS

extra - d32 with accurate 2d6 sum probability, Alphabet Die

v2 - max number underscored, 6 and 9 - dotted
