Basic Steps:

  1. Scan foot in neutral position, I used EM3D which used the face ID camera on an iPhone to get a pretty high definition scan.
  2. Create many planes throughout the scan
  3. Create a sketch and spline following the curve of the foot on each plane. Use section analysis to see where to draw.
  4. Loft a form from all the sketches, then thicken it. Doing it this way allows you to make small adjustments pretty easily using form tools.
  5. Print!

I also scanned my old footbed to make sure I was pretty close to what I already had.

Grid infill, 15-30% stiffness depending on how much flex you want in the footbed. Grid infill gets you the best bang for the buck because all the force comes from the top, so you really only need strength in that direction.

I've tested it on snow now for 4 days and it feels pretty good, you don't notice the layer lines or slight roughness at all when skiing.
