This is a replacement print for the Sovol SV06 Plus x carriage. The model comes in 3 parts and does not need glue to be assembled.

Update 24/2/10: fixed a small error in the back carriage file (bearing constraints were missing). Re-uploaded back carriage stl and step file containing all three parts.

Update 24/2/12: Made timing belt slot slightly narrower so belt will not slip. Re-uploaded back carriage stl and step file containing all three parts. Also added Fusion 360 file for easy altering of the 3D model.

Note: this carriage is slightly longer in the z-direction because it has some added length on the bottom of the carriage. This is to allow room for the M3 nuts to clamp everything together without hitting the extruder pcb.

Print instructions:

  • Material: PETG
  • Layer height: 0.2mm for the middle part, 0.3mm for the front and back
  • Perimeters: 4 (this is really important for strength and threaded inserts!)
  • Infill: 40% (not critical)
  • Orientation: flat side on the build plate
  • Supports: no support or brim required. Support could be used for the screw holes if your print sags too much there

Extra materials needed:

I used an old soldering tip at 300 degrees Celsius to insert the threaded inserts into the 3 holes in the front part of the carriage (see photo). See this manual for detailed instructions: https://hackaday.com/2019/02/28/threading-3d-printed-parts-how-to-use-heat-set-inserts/

Assembly:

  • Insert all 6 bolts into back carriage
  • Place back carriage onto bearings and insert timing belts
  • Place middle carriage onto back carriage and screw in all bolts. Add the two nuts for the centre holes and tighten centre bolts until nuts are securely receded into recesses (see picture)
  • In front carriage, insert nut into top right slot until holes are aligned
  • Place front carriage over middle carriage and tighten top right bolt. Then screw nuts over remaining bolts and tighten
