Description

PDF

It's a simple magnetic interface that directs the Bambu poop through the segment tubing.

Update 2/12/24: After about a week from uploading the original model, someone mentioned that the tube connector was backwards and was catching the poop (I didn't experience this because I don't bend my tube much, but I saw how this is really possible), so I reversed it and uploaded new photos and model files with the opposite tube connection.  I also beefed up the tube connection a bit and removed a little from the bracket to try to keep it light weight.

The Printing

What I used to print this and some settings I found helpful

  • Bambu X1C
  • PETG
  • 0.6mm nozzle
  • line width: 0.8mm
  • 2 walls
  • tree supports on the hanging edge
  • wall generation: Arachne
  • 15% Cubic infill

I highly recommend using ā€˜Arachneā€™ wall generation as it allows for better wall printing for the hood (the opening to the segment) and better magnet holes and the poop opening.

If you're using a 0.4mm nozzle, I would suggest you use 3 walls in order to help with printing the panel at the angle.

About ā€œClassicā€ vs ā€œArachneā€:

The classic wall generator produces walls with constant extrusion width and for very thin areas, gap-fill is used. The Arachne engine produces walls with variable extrusion width.

Print orientation

This prints segment tube to the plate.  I have pretty good bed adhesion on my textured PEI plate, so I didn't need/use a brim.  Feel free to add one if you think you need it.

I manually controlled the supports to only apply to this areaā€¦

The Magnets

I used four 12x3mm magnets (I used some from this combo pack I've had for a bit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HQMT9BD)

The four magnets hold well against the X1C and all 13 tube segments that I have attached and pointed to a trash can under my desk.

PS notes

Side Note: The photos show a plate that has some thinner sections on the sides, but I found it was unnecessary and actually negatively affected the printā€¦ so I simplified it after the print was complete.

PS. This was inspired by the craycray design from MakerWorld.  I wanted bigger magnets, a simpler transition to the tube segment and more of the model to be support-free.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

I like the idea of the segment tubes, and the magnetic mount that CrayCray created was close to what I wanted.  I wanted a simpler design and something to support bigger magnets.

This design has a straight shaft from the bracketā€¦ and has 12mm x 3mm magnet holes.
