This is my second escalator; your original motorized one being the first. It's sooooo smooth! I can spin the spindle like a top and the escalator will continue on its own for about a second.
I printed this one for my 5yo autistic godson who is enamored with escalators. He'll absolutely love it.
And thank you for the assembly jig to make assembly much easier. Cheers!
Edit: I knew the handrails would break immediately in the hands of a 5yo (I printed in PLA to be fair), so I beefed them up a bit to accommodate this kid's tendency to drop stuff. We'll see how long these ones last! :D (edited)
Took me 30 minutes to assemble (failed once). Outcome's pretty good, fun to spin it with a motored screwdriver.
Great model, I had to use a tiny bit of super glue to keep the hex nuts in place. I was a great project to build with my son to show him how an escalator works but I had to hold the pieces in place while my 4year old place the links, probably better suited for an older kid. My only other comments is that sometimes if I roll the escalator in reverse too fast, it gets stuck because of the tolerances. I think it would help if there was an axel in front too.
great model. I only had problem printing the steps, because they have quite less contact with the bed, I had to use brim and then remove and clean it. Everything else is straight-forward to print and not very difficult to assemble. I used the hex nut versions and only used the glue in the end caps to keep the hex nuts in place.
