The Voronoi pattern competition is a bit of a farce to be honest, it is not really about skills, it's more about prescription services and being prepared to splash out in order to compete. $5 or $7.50 is probably not much for some, but I have to to consider the cost of something that is just a hobby for me.
After many hours of videos and trail and error I managed to get some solution, but unable to smooth out the edges with chamfers.
The free tool is limited to embossing or debossing and work well on flat surfaces or one dimensional curves, however through lots of trail and error I managed to get a solution to pattern a bowl with sharp edges unfortunately by just using the free tool by debossing a cylinder and then using that as a split body tool or combine tools to cut the holes in the bowl.
The video where I got the inspiration from is here: FUSION 360- How to create a DEBOSS on a CURVED surface || OFFSET FACE feature. Simple step by step!! - YouTube
I also found this free online tool to generate patterns with: Voronoi Editor (websvg.github.io)
It might be slightly better than the free Voronoi Sketch Generator, but requires some work to get the scaling and positioning right.
The end result being this:
With a visible joint for the pattern in the middle of this screenshot.
The second bowl was made using the same process flow but instead using Voronoi Editor (voronoi-editor.web.app) to make the pattern.
Both methods does not allow chamfering the sharp edges using Fusion 360.
The combine tool selecting intersection yields the same result:
Overall I am happy enough with the results, but it is not near as powerful as the subscription services, so this is not a level playing field to be honest, the subscription tools are much more advanced and powerful and in my opinion not down to design skills.
