I needed to replace a missing thumb screw, and since my CAD design is parametric I thought I might as well make a range of sizes while I was at it, just in case of a future need. Sizes include :

INCHMetric
#6M3
#8M4
#10M5
1/4"M6

Assembly and Use

These prints are designed for a tight fit on the SHCS. I inserted the SHCS into the knob by hammering it in with the knob on top of vise jaws (open just enough for the SHCS threaded part to fit through). This may result in some tear-out where the threaded part goes through the knob, but this does not affect function. Alternatively, you can just screw the SHCS into the knob (takes longer and is a bit more difficult).

Print Instructions

Print in PETG using the 3mf files provided, otherwise :

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 5 perimeters
  • 0% rectilinear infill
  • print with the part oriented top down

Note : I prefer to use PETG for use in the shop, but PLA would probably work for these as well.
