I really wanted a Variax and all I could find was a Shuriken model. I like the standard Variax setup so I flashed the Shuriken but now the knob labels do not match the presets. Instead of using tape to cover the original knobs, you can make several sets of 3D printed knobs depending on how you like to set things up best. Presets are fully customizable so why not the knobs!
These knobs are really general purpose and can be used as custom knobs for any rotary encoder or rotary switch with a 6mm D-shaft. These can be really useful for effects pedals or control panels. The printed spring does a good job of gripping the shaft snugly while still being easy enough to remove.
Make sure you print at least two of these knobs at a time. If you only print one, the thin end stop will be distorted as each layer doesn't have enough time to cool before the next layer.
The knobs are designed for 12mm (½") labels printed on an Epson LW-C610PX. I use the seam in the printed knob as guide for consistently applying the labels.
