Whether you're;

-Someone who needs to convert your larger (3-5kg) spools to much more manageable-sized ones.

-Someone who buys spool refills to do your part to save the environment.

-(Or in my particular use case, you're) Someone who utilizes a Bambu lab printer with an AMS and needs to move your filament from a cardboard spool to one with more grip on the edges.

This is the reusable spool for you.

This spool prints in two threaded pieces for ease of printing and I would highly recommend supergluing them together as you'll likely never need to take the 2 halves apart and would not want the filament on this to come unspooled.

This model comes with a few great features baked-in that I've noticed in other spools, but also a set of ID tags (inspired by the HSW organizational system) so that you can quickly know what you're grabbing for each time you pick up a spool of filament. I even left a blank one so that you can edit it to add whatever fits your needs. Whether you want to have a plaque that displays the manufacturer name, a logo, or even a QR code that takes you to a Google Doc that you've set up to remind you how to best run the filament (yes, this one is very specific, but), the possibilities are endless.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • A through hole was added for the filament to enter the center ring and better hold onto the spool as it is being spun.

  • The design was edited to include filament clasps every so often on the male side. To use; make a slight bend in the filament and push into the opening.

  • Openings were included to allow filament ID plaques on various areas of the spool.  These are present on both the male and female sides.
