Original Prusa i3 MK3 ENCLOSURE served well for years with Prusa MK2. Now after purchase of MK4 I decided to upgrade the box to remove the biggest negatives.

I created the extension parts for legs which gives the box extra 60mm height and extension of the desk to give extra 50mm of depth (confortable for the heated bed cable without remix covers).

With this upgrade, you can keep and use all printed parts from original enclosure, screws and the Lack table. But you will need in addition:

  • new 3mm plexi glass (1pc 440x500, 2pcs 220x500, 2pcs 490x500mm
  • 1pc Ikea Lack table leg (as a desk extension). You could print it as well, but that would be too much plastic and I had some Lack spares ;-)
  • wood screws for leg extensions (8pcs 4x35mm or similar)
  • wood screws for desk extension (8pcs 4x35mm and 2pcs 4.5x60mm or similar)

Extension of the desk to get some more depth of the box is done by extra Lack leg. To this leg you have to mount the printed extension parts. These parts serv to mount the leg to the table and also for the original legs to be mounted to. The Lack leg is not suitable for cutting or drilling anywhere but the ends as it is completely hollow in the middle. You can see the details on the photos.

If you have the complete set with also bottom Lack table, you will need one extra leg and set of extension parts and screws. But honestly, having Lack table under the printer, I doubt that somebody runs this couple of years. The table is extremely unstable. Looks nice, but…

I understand that getting new plexi is the biggest issue, so for those who want to keep it, there is still Prusa Enclosure V2 - MMU2S. Just I like the desing of first version more.

You can print from PETG as original parts. Infil 15% good enough, can be even less. I used 3 perimeters. No supports needed.

I included also extra bottom corner parts as this time I decided to keep the power supply inside and I need to get there a power cable from the right side.
