Steps to install whole setup into the Lenovo M720Q Minipc:

  1. Print this model with a sturdy material like PETG
  2. Take off side/top cover of minipc (screw on the back and slide towards front IO)
  3. Take out 2.5" drive holder by pressing down the two tabs on it's side
  4. Take out flexible SATA connection
  5. Take out VGA or other expansion/cover in the back (screws)
  6. Take out front metal brace (screws)
  7. Put in padding in place of front brace*
  8. Put in PCI-e adapter (Example: 01AJ940 from Aliexpress)
  9. Screw in back/PCI-e cover using original screws
(put the side inside the case, back will stick out a bit)
  10. Install LSI 9200-8e HBA
  11. Put everything back together

*I needed this and the back cover so the card wouldn't sag which made it not work, you can check if it's correctly connected by looking at if the heartbeat LED flashes in same time intervals (~1 second).

Recommendation:

Solder a fan header from old motherboard to the board where it supplies 5V (next to CPU fan header, see pictures)
Connect a 5V 40x40x10mm radial fan (can't be bigger) and double side tape it to next to the HBA's heatsink (I used a 12V fan which works but not at max speed).
