I made a smaller version and some improvements of my bigger model of a traditional hot air balloon. You can pick all color configurations you like with a single extruder, so without MMU. And everything is form-fitting, so you don't need glue!
I made a hole in the bottom for accessing the string. Added a solid in the basket to make it less breakable. And added a screw connection between bottom and basket so you don't need glue and the hole is always accessible.
First print 12 sections of the side.stl model. Again, you can pick any combination of colors you have or like. Also print the bottom.stl and the basket.stl 1x.
Click 2x 6 sections together, so you get two halves. The fitting should be quite snug, so push the parts together as tight as you can. I printed mine on a MK3S and connection was perfect.
Then insert a string in the middle. I tied my string to a nut to keep it from pulling out of the model.
Next push the bottom part on the bottom part of the 12 sections. I was able to push pretty hard without breaking it.
It leaves a hole in the bottom so you can access it for adding or altering strings etc.
Next screw on the basket and your hot air balloon is ready to hang in the Christmas tree!
I printed all of the models at 0.2mm height on a MK3S+. I used Prusament for all the parts; Pearl White, Lipstick Red, Mystic Green and Viva La Bronze.
Enjoy!
