This spool adapter downsizes a 72mm filament spool core diameter - Sunlu, Anycubic, Crealty, Hatchbox, et al to fit the Bambu Labs' AMS Lite rotary spool holder.

Updated version, inspired by MichaelRousseau3D's model on Makers World.

I was having durability issues with the original model (threads were stringing after a few weeks, as well as thread tolerance issues if printed above 0.2 layer height at +200mms. Also the outer ring was bit tough to grasp at times with my phat fingers. I think all those issues have been solved.

Tested on A1 Mini using default settings for any given layer height and Elegoo Rapid PLA+

  • Generous thread tolerances and and a robust helix designed to allow printing at all layer heights on a 0.4 hotend. True and tested.
  • Tested up to 0.36 with a 0.6 hotend, no issues. However the standard settings for the 0.6 hotend result in very similar print times to a 0.4 Extra Draft (0.28).
  • The sweet spot appears to be a 0.4 hotend and 0.28 layer height if you don't feel like switching the hotend to save a few minutes.
  • 2 perimeters are enough, I used 15% infill.

Lastly, modified outer ring is easier to grasp and maneuver.

Will update once I try Sport and Ludicrous speeds.

Update:

  • Prints fine on Sports Speed all layer heights with a .4 hotend
  • No go at Ludicrous, at least with the filament I used.

Happy Printing in 2024!

PS - I included the Fusion360 file if anyone wants to play around with it.
